Monkey D. Luffy, conjointly referred to as “Straw Hat,” Luffy is a character and also the main protagonist of the One Piece manga and anime series Luffy, a young boy acquires the properties of rubber when accidentally feeding one of the devil fruits, the Gum Gum Fruit. Luffy is the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates and has dreamt of being a pirate since childhood, thanks to the influence of his idol, Red-Haired Shanks. At the age of seventeen, Luffy sets sail from the East Blue Ocean to the Grand Line in search of the legendary treasure, One Piece, to succeed Gol D. Roger as “King of the Pirates”.
